The book of Job tells the story of a man, Job, from the city of Uz (outside the land of Israel). The prose prologue (chaps. 1–2) describes Job as “blameless and upright” and a person who fears God (1:1, 8; 2:3). He also enjoys great rewards from the hand of God.
